Stimulate reading
For us, reading is essential to broaden the mind, train the brain, and develop intelligence. That’s why Daoust promotes reading by providing numerous books each year, both internally and externally, and by supporting various projects:
Daoust supports the LireLireLire initiative!
In a time of uncertainty, it is essential to read a lot to broaden your horizons.
That’s why Giles Daoust launched the LireLireLire initiative, an operation that offers thousands of books for free in Belgium.
The first phase of the operation is now complete, with over 10,000 books distributed in total!
But LireLireLire continues… with a shortlist of books still available free of charge upon request.
Daoust supports Title Books, an independent publisher created in 2018 with a focus on sharing and free access. All their books are available free of charge in Belgium on request via www.titlebooks.be.
Daoust supports the Double Jeu programme, an initiative that invites secondary school pupils to (re)discover the pleasure of reading.
The principle? To offer teenagers enjoyable books to read, accompanied by a variety of activities based on the works: discussions, writing exercises, debates and moments of literary discovery, with the aim of making them dream, think and travel.
Where possible, a meeting with the author is also organised in class — a unique experience for young readers.
+ 1,330 pupils in Brussels and Wallonia have received a book and had the chance to benefit from this Double Jeu programme since September 2025.
Daoust supports the Prix du Roman Noir at the Foire du Livre de Bruxelles.
This prize is awarded for a first or second novel in the noir genre (detective novel, thriller, noir novel, historical noir novel, dystopia, uchronia, etc.), offering its winner publication as well as a prize of €5,000.
The aim? To put the spotlight on new French-language black authors and support them in their career as writers. In addition to the prize, the finalists will benefit from workshops and training courses to help them become more professional and pursue their literary careers.
Daoust also supports La Cambre and its Master’s program in Literary Texts and Creative Writing, designed for young writers who wish to professionalize their artistic approach connected to writing practices. By creating this Master’s program, La Cambre has positioned itself as a pioneer in Belgium, offering an ambitious curriculum centered around literary creation
100 students/future writers have taken this Masters course.
Daoust supports ‘Le Wolf – La Maison de la Littérature de Jeunesse’ in Brussels. This magical place is dedicated to children and the great names in children’s literature in the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. Le Wolf offers workshops for children, school groups and families, meetings for adults, teacher training courses and travelling exhibitions, as well as stories to listen to in their story jukebox, meetings with authors and illustrators, an unusual library to discover extraordinary albums, Freddy the Wolf’s house, etc.
In 2023, more than 6,200 children took part in workshops, courses and activities to help them learn to read.
Daoust also supports the Out of the Books Festival, the first education festival in Belgium, aimed at introducing tools and new techniques related to the field of education to help evolve practices. Supporting the evolution of the educational system and reigniting the joy of learning in the new generation—actions that are truly Welcome to the Family!
Over 8,400 people have attended the Festival in 6 editions!
Daoust encourages the pleasure of reading among its teams with its LireLireLire book boxes.
Installed in each JobCentre, these book boxes offer a selection of essential essays recommended by Giles Daoust. Employees are invited to borrow books, deposit new ones and share their literary favourites with their colleagues.
The aim is simple: to share the pleasure of reading.
